From Takeoff to Twilight: Making Every Singapore Hour Count for a Milestone Forty!

My sister was turning the big 4-0, and for her, there was only one destination that truly sang to her soul: Bali. Knowing her deep love for everything holistic and natural, it wasn't a shock that Ubud was her first stop on this milestone journey. Our paths, starting from different corners of the States, were set to converge in the vibrant melting pot of Singapore. And wouldn't you know it, we landed in Singapore right on her birthday!

My sister and I? We're a classic study in contrasts. She, the serene introvert, content in her quiet world. Me? Well, let's just say I bring the party (though even I appreciate a good book and a quiet corner now and then). But there's a magic that happens when we're together; I coax out her inner social butterfly – don't tell her I told you so :) Truth be told, my sister is the most selfless person I know, constantly giving her time, her energy, her resources, never expecting a thing in return. So, when she asked her closest family to join her in this birthday adventure, my "yes" was a resounding certainty.

Touchdown in Singapore was just for a fleeting 24 hours, but man, it felt like I crammed a lifetime into that single day. Arriving in the morning, my taxi took me straight to the JW Marriott Singapore South Beach. I'd seen the pictures of their rooftop infinity pool, and I knew I had to experience those breathtaking views firsthand. My room, overlooking the dazzling cityscape, was just as incredible, and the early check-in was a lifesaver. With zero intention of sleeping, I headed straight for that pool. Gosh, the views! Exactly as I'd imagined.

After soaking in the scenery, it was time to refuel. I found this great little spot serving up local Singaporean food, and I lucked out – it was seriously yummy! Once lunch was done, yeah, the exhaustion hit. Let's just say my thirties aren't quite as forgiving as my twenties were when it came to all-nighters. But I had something special planned for my wonderful sister. I'd brought along these personalized souvenirs for everyone joining us (Etsy and Amazon did not disappoint!), and a really special gift just for the birthday girl. But the night was calling! We started our exploration of Singapore's nightlife at a cool spot called Brooklyn bar, where we met an amazing bartender. From there, it was on to Ce La Vi, perched high atop the Marina Bay Sands hotel, to officially ring in her 40th. And those views? Sick! Seriously breathtaking.  Time must have gone faster than we thought, it was 2 am and our flight to Bali was just a few hours away, time to rush back. Sleep where?  The Taxi driver had arrived to take us to the airport.

And isn't that what it's all about? Scattering a little bit of sparkle wherever we go, lighting up the lives of those we cherish. To be continued.
